Sweet Spicy Sticky Fingerlickin Chicken Wings

Can I just say that I love a good chicken wing.  The hot variety that we love to eat with blue cheese dressing, carrots and celery sticks is always satisfying, but these sweet, spicy and sticky wings are the kind that make you lick your fingers and suck the bone. Yes, the sauce is that good. Pour it over rice for a nice meal and  serve with your favorite vegetables, or pile them up on a plate and get ready for some good lip smackin, fingerlickin plate kissin chicken wings.

The recipe can be adjusted to fit the level of sweet and heat that you prefer.  Most of the time when I cook, I just add a pinch of this, a touch of that until I arrive at the flavor dimension I want, but to make it easy for you to follow, I have some approximate measurements that I know will give you a great result:-)

The sauce burns easily due to the sugar content, so keep a close eye on your wings. The longer these marinate in the sauce, the more flavorful they will be. I like to marinate them in the morning and cook in the evening.

This is one of the special ingredients that make these wings so scrumptious. Oh Honey...

I promise this is as good as it looks. Just think, you could be eating this in a couple of hours.

Ingredients

3 Pounds Chicken Wings
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Franks Hot Sauce or Tabasco sauce
2 tablespoons chile sauce
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 cloves garlic minced
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Mix all ingredients together and pour over chicken. Cover and refrigerate marinating for at least one hour.

Preheat oven to 375. Arrange chicken wings in a single layer on a baking sheet and cook for at least 45-50 minutes. Baste wings a few times and turn wings once at half way point. Once Wings have cooked for 50 minutes.  Reduce heat to 225 and cook another 30 minutes.

Bon Appetit!

Gray and Camel

Happy Tuesday! Today is a short post. It is cold outside with dark cumulus clouds and this type of weather always makes me want to hibernate. A big rainstorm is on the way. Just the other day I was enjoying warm sunny weather and just like that, a shift bringing unexpected clouds. When that happens with the weather and your life, take comfort knowing that the sun is going to shine again soon:-) Thanks for your emails and comments regarding my knee injury. I am almost back at 100%  and will be able to run for miles and get back to those fun plyometric workouts soon! Today I am wearing gray and camel and I really love the way these colors look together. What do you think?

These boots are super comfortable and go with just about everything. I love this color.

Petros Greek Lounge (LV's LA)

Flavorful delicious food is magnified when you discover a restaurant with a great cozy ambiance. Petros Greek Restaurant Lounge is the perfect combination of a relaxing environment upscale environment with a beach aesthetic.. Located in Manhattan beach this restaurant has a great selection of Mediterranean cuisine with a little California influence.  I love to go here in late afternoon so I can enjoy sitting outdoors and enjoying the sun and  fresh air and then watch the sun go down.

When you arrive at Petros you are warmly greeted with a smile and fresh baked bread and garlic dip.  It is Amazing! The servers are friendly and helpful and the menu is full of unusual flavor combinations such as the signature Karpouzi salad made with fresh watermelon, feta, tomatoe, Manouri cheese and Greek honey. This was such a flavor explosion, although my dinner date did not think watermelon and cheese belong in one salad, I found it refreshingly different and delicious.

My meal started off on a great note with the Horiatki flatbread pizza, which is loaded with tomatoes, olives, onions, feta and avocado.  I also could not resist a platter of  hummus in a variety of flavors with fresh pita bread.

Decisions Decisions.

The absolute best garlic dip ever

I can never pass up good bread. How about you?

 Karpouzi (Watermelon) Salad

So delicious. And I mean D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S

Fish, rice pilaf and grilled asparagus. Healthy and delicious!

You absolutely must try the Loukouna, which are Greek donuts drizzled with honey, walnuts and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

If you stay until the sun goes down, you can also enjoy the romantic atmosphere and glow of candlelight.  Or if you choose to sit outdoors like me, you can enjoy an evening breeze while the heat lamp keeps the chill away:-)

As you can see, I hated everything, LOL. Actually, everything was quite tasty. The clean plate gives it away. Grandma would be proud:-)

Prices range from moderate to moderately expensive depending on how much or how little your order. For appetizers, entree, dessert and wine, expect to pay in the $100 range. For a simple lunch, you might pay as little as $15.00The restaurant has a great variety to choose from and has fabulous vegetarian selections in addition to lots of great lamb, meat,  poultry and seafood dishes to satisfy your carnivore cravings.

Red

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend:-) I spent a significant portion of mine nursing a knee injury, but I expect the pain to go away soon because I told it to, LOL. I hope you had a great weekend:-) It won't be long before spring is upon us, so I am enjoying wearing my winter clothes while there is still a little winter chill in the air. I am wearing one of my favorite wraps that is a deep beautiful shade of red. The color red is such a warm, vibrant and bold color and I always feel a little more energy when I wear a bold color. Do you like red?
