The Substance of Faith

Hey Loves! Its been a hectic week so far. I hope you enjoyed the Kale Taco recipe from last week. It has been such a busy time and so many great and unexpected opportunities have been presenting themselves to me. It made me ponder the concept of being prepared when an opportunity comes. I have come to the realization that the best protocol is not to get ready, but to STAY READY.
You never know when all the seeds you planted will begin to grow. Sometimes a seed can lie dormant for a very long time and then there is a SUDDENLY moment.

Speaking of things lying dormant, many of you follow me on my other social media platforms and were following my Food Fashion and Flow Facebook page and then I became so focused on my other social media platforms that I neglected the page and before I knew it three years had gone by without one single Facebook page update and then I decided this year to start posting on the page again. When I went there to update, I was astounded at the number of messages from people hungry to see content on the page. Please take a moment to like my page here and then you will be able to see inspirational content every day.

When you plant a seed, you have to water it and make sure it gets some sunlight and then you trust and believe that what you are watering will grow even though you can't see what is happening under the soil. That's what faith looks like. It is trusting what you can't see.
The word of God says: "Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" - Hebrews 11:1

When life doesn't make sense. Look up and rejoice because the answers come from above. In life sometimes our faith is all we have and we have to hold onto it even if those around you don't understand.

The weather recently has been chilly, but it gives me an excuse to wear my fur jacket. I am wearing a palette neutral colors and neutral colors always look perfect.

Fur Jacket: F-21, Purse: Ivanka Trump, Dress, F-21, Boots: Diba

Unkempt messy hair and don't care. Life gets messy too, but even through messy people and circumstances. Keep the faith

Always remember that a faith walk is never easy

Keep smiling through it all and have a great day!

Salmon Kale Tacos

Kale

Good ol Kale...

The beloved cousin to Collard Greens makes a lot of appearances in my kitchen. Kale is robust, healthy and marries well with just about anything else in the kitchen. Did I mention that it's really healthy?
I just love a good taco and usually my shells are lined with iceberg lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, but one day I experimented by swapping out my usual ground turkey for Salmon and my usual iceberg lettuce with Kale. The result was unexpectedly delicious and the robust flavor from the Kale and my Siracha Crema made the tacos extra tasty. I love a little extra crunch, so I served them with a side of fresh radishes.

Kale has a rougher grittier texture than other greens, so massaging them with Aioli, Crema, salsa or your favorite condiment helps. My favorite trick is to put the hot salmon on the kale to slightly wilt and soften it. This works out perfectly for tacos because you don't want the kale to be rough and overpower your other ingredients.

Are you ready to try some Salmon Kale Tacos?

Start with fresh wild Salmon

lime

Curly Kale

Fresh radishes
Sour Cream

 Mayonnaise

Siracha for a little kick

And Corn Tortillas

Ingredients

1 pound wild salmon
1 Lime juiced with 1 tablespoon lime zest
3 tablespoons Siracha
1 Tablespoon olive oil (approximately)
Pink Himalayan sea salt to taste
2 cups curly Kale
6 corn tortillas
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise

Directions

For Salmon
Preheat oven to 425

lightly oil a baking sheet with the olive oil. Mix 1 tablespoon of the siracha, and lime juice and pour over salmon. Sprinkle with a little sea salt and broil for about 15-20 minutes.

For Kale

Rinse Kale and cut into thin shreds.

For Shells

For extra crispy shells, fry them in a bit of oil until crispy. For a healthier shell, spray a baking pan with cooking spray and the tortillas and bake in a preheated oven of 425 for 10-15 minutes.

For the Siracha Crema

Mix the sour cream, mayonnaise and remaining Siracha until smooth and well combined. (you can add more Siracha to make it spicier)

Assemble the tacos by filling each shell with flaked salmon, kale, and a generous helping of Siracha Crema. Serve each taco with fresh radishes and your favorite side dish

Bon Appetit!

Action Speaks

Words are beautiful and they have power.  I have learned through life experience to pay close attention to if a persons actions line up with their words. Here is a little secret beween me and you...
A person can either speak positive words with negative actions, speak positive words and secretly have negative feelings in their heart towards you or both at the same time.

That's ice cold. Brrrrrrrrrrr

It's not the sugar in someones words, but the razor blade underneath what they are saying. The words, deeds and actions should consistently line up. If they don't, you have a classic case of deception on your hands. If you want to know a persons heart towards you, just watch and their actions will tell on them. The key to dealing with this type of challenge is to rise above it and continue to walk in love and kindness.

The greatest book ever written says this:  The words of their mouth were smoother than butter, but WAR was in their heart: their words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords-Psalm 55:21

This is a great illustration of the fact that everyone around you is not necessarily for you.

Despite what might be around you, reflect love and light because your love and light is contagious. I hope they catch it:-)

Inner Beauty 24-7 (Food Fashion and Flow Workshop)

Hey Loves! I hope your weekend was amazing. In my last post I mentioned that I would share with you my get out of the boat and walk on water experience. If you are familiar with biblical stories, then you know the story about Peter having to step out of the boat and walk on water.  Many of us have our own moments in life when we have to step out on faith and do something that makes us have to lean on GOD because we could never do it in our own strength.

So what was my test of faith?

"Drumroll Please"

This past weekend, I presented my first Food Fashion and Flow workshop as part of a phenomenal women's conference called: NOW LIVE. I really have a heart for women, especially women who are hurting or need to be inspired and loved back to life, so I presented a workshop covering inner and outer beauty, finding your personal style and walking in your purpose. I didn't tell a lot of my friends and family about it because I was nervous, so I hope they aren't mad at me...

I provided some reference materials and an awesome gift bag for each woman

I hope they enjoyed everything as much as I enjoyed preparing it for them
They were a captive audience. They munched on my homemade brownies while listening to the presentation:-)

I gave them the words that GOD told me to speak
They listened and took notes
I included two of my recipes from the blog on my new recipe cards

I came bearing gifts

Each bag had many symbolic items inside of it and all the girly things that put a smile on our face:-)

 There smiles were priceless

The look of shock when you get a gift you weren't expecting
GOD is the master of giving you a gift you didn't expect

I wanted them to feel beautiful, so this was the first item my beautiful guests looked upon

GOD wanted to tell them something

Sometimes we need a little reminder

These gorgeous postcards are courtesy of Divine Image Cosmetics. What a relevant message and the free makeup brushes and face powder were the icing on top:-) Each woman received this in her bag

The butterfly brooch presented to them represents the transformation we go through
to get to our purpose in life

I made my own biblical anointing oil for each guest

I had a  lot of fun making these cute nail polish favors for each bag

Some of our lovely guests received these beautiful compacts in their bags

Others received these rich vibrant eye shadow pots

 lip glosses

These cute shoe and purse key rings were in every bag. The shoe and purse are symbolic. The purse represents identity and the shoes represent walking in your purpose. I am grateful for my sponsors and Angel investors for making it possible to bless so many ladies
And what woman doesn't love some smell goods for her purse? These cute lotions and matching hand sanitizes were in each bag
I would like to tell you that I still had some critics. Yes, there were some that were not very nice to me, but the sun outweighed the shade:-)
Great things happen when women support each other with pure hearts. These Angels helped keep things flowing smoothly during my workshop. My dear friend and my beautiful cousin were a tremendous help to me and I cherish both of them

The beautiful gift bags each lady received
 It was a beautiful day

I gave them my heart

Your heart is a priceless gift. Have an amazing day!
